What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic procedure similar to tattooing.  The cosmetic implementation technique used in permanent makeup deposits colored pigment into the upper layer of the dermis. Terms such as “micropigmentation” or “micropigment implantation” commonly use to refer to permanent makeup techniques.

There are a variety of looks you can opt for when choosing your permanent makeup treatments. If it’s a dramatic powder brow you are looking for to mimic the look of makeup, you’ve got it. What is involved in performing permanent cosmetic procedures?

Permanent cosmetics procedures involve the use of a hand-held digital device that punctures the skin with a very thin needle and deposits the pigment into the desired area. The process starts with a consultation, followed by the application of pigment, and a follow up visits to assess the results after the skin has healed. We usually to take photos before and after procedures to see results.

Are permanent cosmetic procedures really permanent?

The technique using in permanent cosmetics procedures deposits pigment into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and it is permanent because you cannot wash it off.  Nonetheless, with time fading can and in most cases will occur.  Periodic maintenance or color refreshing will be necessary to keep the look. How much time do the procedures take?

Expect to spend 2 to 3 hours at your technician’s office. The will be paperwork to take care of in addition to the initial color and design consultation, and the actual procedure.  The follow up appointment will not require as much time.

Will the procedure be painful?

Normally, you would experience discomfort or pain depending on your individual tolerance. Some would say the sensation feels like an electric toothbrush pressed against the skin; a little uncomfortable but not too painful. No worries, there are many topical anesthetics for the permanent cosmetics procedures.  Your technician will make sure you feel as comfortable as possible during your session.

Is it Safe?

What if I am not happy with the results?

To some degree the permanent cosmetics procedures allow for change in color and shape.  It is important to keep in mind that immediately following the procedure and during the healing process the colors will appear darker and will lighten overtime. It also takes time to become accustomed to the new look. The best approach is to have patience until your skin has fully healed. Communication between you and your technician is important to get the best results. Be clear about your desired look and listen to your technician’s advice.


What to expect during and after the procedure?

Depending on the procedure performed you can expect various degree of swelling or tenderness. For example eyebrows or lash enhancement usually show very little effect after procedure. However, lips or eyeliner may show minor to moderate swelling.  Full lip color will show more effects then blended lip liner and so on. The degree of effects also differs from individual to individual.  People who take blood thinner can also experience some minor bruising or slight bleeding during the procedure. It is rare, but it can occur. These post procedure effects will subside in a day or two. Also, expect the color to appear much darker in the first week to two weeks after application. Can the pigments cause an allergic reaction?

Allergies to pigments are very rare. Even people who are allergic to traditional make up are often times advised by their doctors to consider permanent make up. However, people can develop an allergy to anything. Our pigments are certified as non-allergenic, bio-compatible, and sterile. The highest quality ingredients comply with all aspects of safety standards.

Would I need a touch-up?

The permanent makeup is a 2 step procedure. First we do the initial procedure and implant the color, then you must come back around 4-6 weeks later once your skin is healed for the touchup appointment. Once you have completed both sessions your procedure is complete. End results are all affected by skin type and will vary from person to person.
The touch-up work should not be performed sooner than four weeks after the original procedure.
